Day 1 Arrival in Surabaya - Transfer to Cemorolawang Village at Mt Bromo – Village Tour

Once you arrived at Surabaya Airport, meet & greet by our guide and proceed transfer by car to Cemorolawang village at the edge of Tengger caldera (Mt Bromo).

Check-in and overnight at Mt Bromo.

If time is permitted we will take you to explore Tengger people daily life, to observe their Hinduism which slightly different than Balinese Hindus, to see their farm and to get to know them more.

Day 2 (Mt Bromo & Penanjakan Sunrise Tour - Transfer to Ijen Crater area

At 3.30 in the early morning you'll be wake up and we will bring you to the world's most famous view point at Mt Penanjakan on the rim of the Tengger caldera to enjoy the sunrise (if we're lucky) with its young volcanic including Mt Bromo and an active Mt Semeru in the background.

Afterward the adventure continue to an active Mt. Bromo volcano to climb up 245 step of stairs (Horse ride is optional), then return back to hotel for breakfast, re-packing and check-out and depart to Ijen Crater Area, Banyuwangi on the eastern side of Java Island.

En route we will stop at Pasir Putih Beach for a short break while enjoying lunch.

Along the way we will passing the sugar cane plantation, tobacco plantation and traditional villages. This road is part of the old road Anyer - Panarukan that built by the Governors General of Daendels during 18 Century. Once we arrived at Licin Village, Banyuwangi proceed to hotel for check-in and overnight.

Day 3 Ijen Crater Trekking - Coffee Plantation Tour - Exploring Ijen Area

Early in the morning short transfer to Paltuding Ranger Post for starting Ijen Tour - Ijen Crater shows a special type of volcanic feature common to Indonesia, about 1 km in diameter and 175 meters deep. The floor is covered completely by a warm lake, milky blue green in color, held back by a dam built many years ago by the Dutch, in order to keep the hot mineral, laden water from raining for the crop lands below. After finishing the unforgettable trip we continue touring to Coffee Plantation and Factory where we will learn how the coffee beans being processed.

We also will take you to explore the area, visiting the hidden hot waterfall, and to see local daily life.

Then we will return to your villa to rest and enjoying the surrounding rice paddy scenery.

Day 4 Ijen Crater - Transfer to Sukamade Turtle Beach at Meru Betiri National Park

After breakfast, we check-out and leave to Sukamade Turtle Beach at Meru Betiri National Park. This National Park is one of the most remote areas in Java where it believe the Javanese Tiger are still can be found. The road will be very bumpy, and we will also crossing several rivers so

prepare for your little adventure. Once we arrived at Sukamade, proceed to the guest house for check-in and resting.

After simple dinner at the guesthouse, proceed to the Sukamade beach for the turtle excursion (sightings are not guaranteed).

See the turtles slowly walk up ashore to lay their eggs - this will be your life time experience.

After that we head back to the guesthouse for overnight.

Day 5 Sukamade Turtle Beach – Transfer to Kalibaru

After simple breakfast at the guest house, you will be given the opportunity to set out the baby turtle free to their natural habitat.

And then we will check-out and transfer to Kalibaru village through the dense of Meru Betiri National Park.

Along the way, you may see endless plantation of coffee, cacao, and traditional rubber tapping.

Once we reached Kalibaru village, check-in at Margo Utomo Resort which is a small and traditional lodging, built in Javanese traditional style with private balcony, private bathroom with hot and cold water and shower.

It has also its own swimming pool and restaurant.

Day 6 Kalibaru Tour – Transfer to Malang

After breakfast, we take our time for Mini Plantation Tour featuring coffee, cacao and tropical spices.

After completing the tour we transfer to Malang for check-in and overnight at Tugu Hotel Malang.

This unique hotel will give you an unforgettable memory.

Today's lunch will be served at local restaurant en route.

Day 7 Malang Tour – Hotel’s Antiques Tour – Relaxing at Hotel

After enjoying breakfast we will take you to explore the Malang city. We will do Malang City Tour visiting: Pecinan (china town), Pasar Besar and Ijen Boulevard where the colonial architecture are still kept and well preserved.

After completing the tour we return to hotel - Free time at Malang.

At the afternoon we have scheduled you to explore hotel’s antiquities a feast for the eye and the mind, where every corner is decorated tastefully with a vast collection of Indonesian antiques.

Day 8 Malang – Singosari Temple – Kakek Bodo Waterfall – Transfer to Surabaya

In the morning after breakfast, check-out and quick photo stop at Singosari Temple before transfer to Tretes where we will do some trekking on Kakek Bodo Forest to reach its waterfall.

From there we continue our trip to Surabaya.

En route we also will see the Sidoarjo Mud Volcano that ruined thousand of houses.

Afternoon we will arrive at Surabaya, transfer to Majapahit Hotel for check-in and overnight.

This Hotel's architect is the same as the famous Raffles Hotel Singapore, and this heritage hotel is also involved in Indonesia's revolutionary war history.

Day 9 Surabaya - Transfer Out

After breakfast at hotel, free time until it's time for you to check-out. And we will take you to Surabaya airport to catch your onward/return flight.

Get There

The Ijen Plateau can be reached through Bondowoso from either the northern or the southern coast. It is closer to Banyuwangi, but the road is very steep and badly deteriorated. A 4 WD is essential, although difficult to hire in Banyuwangi and outrageously expensive. Most people walk the last 8 km (from about 64 km)Â along the road to Pos Paltuding (the PHPA Post, the starting point or the trek to the crater) from Bondowoso.

You can choose your places of stay at Bondowoso or Banyuwangi. There are a few types of accommodation with varying prices and facilities.

The sulphur diggers will approach you for playing a guide and sell some nice sulphur statues for Rp5,000 to Rp10,000.

Get Around

You can take a walk for about 1 to 1.5 hour to the crater rim.

To Do

At the rim itself you have a nice view on the lake. You can walk around the rim or approach the lake (about a 40-minute walk).

Tips

The walk starts at Pal Tuding. Its a basic camp where you can stay overnight. There is a block with showers and toilets
At night it can be pretty cold up there,(it is suggested that you carry a sleeping bag). Take your own picnic, since the food you can buy at the parking lot isn't up to much.
The walk up to the crater rim takes 60-90 minutes. It's pretty steep. Halfway is a small post where the sulphurworkers take a break. A cup of tea is available here.
The path is just one-way so there is no need for any guidance.
An absolute must is a handkerchief to put in front of your mouth and nose to avoid inhalation of the sulphur gases.
If you buy some souvenirs like statues, they are very breakable so tape them in with toilet paper and take precious care of it.
